A few questions....
that I'm hoping you can answer
1) Can you bleed a bit (spotting) when you ovulate? I spotted for one day (last Friday), thought I was getting AF, and then it went away (gone by Saturday). I just found out today, that according to my progesterone levels, that I probably O about 3-4 days ago, which would coincide with the bleeding. I'm wondering if that's what it was...
2) How high do your progesterone levels reach after O? And when do they start rising? The doctor said I O (about 3-4 days ago), because my levels were 2.7 yesterday and 7 today, but I am so skeptical because I took a 5 day dose of provera the week of 3/10. He said that it really doesn't matter, but I don't know what to think.
3) Those with PCOS, when you first O on your own, were you able to O on your own again your next cycle? Or is it fairly inconsistent? Did you notice a pattern?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated I am trying to figure out this whole thing....

Re: A few questions....
You can have "ovulatory" spotting. According to my "Taking Charge of my Fertility' book- It reads- Some women have a day or two of light bleeding right around ovulation- It is usually a result of the sudden drop of estrogen just before ovulation and tends to occur most often in long cycles-l so it very well could have been !....I have a mild case of PCOS and there have been a handful of times that I O'd on my own and for me it never really came in any sort of pattern, very sporatic...HTH !!!

Re: A few questions....
1) Yes some people experience some spotting when they ovulate.
2) I believe that for an unmedicated CD they look for progesterone levels above 10. For a medicated cycle above 15 or 20. (thats for pregnancy, I am not sure about what they look for to tell if you ovulated)
3) The last time I ovulated on my own was in September. The time before that, February of '07. So for me, no, if I ovulate once on my own doesn't mean I will again. I have been on clomid since october of last year.

Thanks for your detailed response
So if my level jumped from 2.7 to 7 (yesterday to today), can he REALLY determine that I ovulated? If levels are supposed to be above 10, that makes me a little skeptical.
I feel better that perhaps I did O on my own. I did have spotting for only one day (Friday) and according to the doctor I O 3-4 days ago which makes sense. I also had cramps prior to Friday - is that normal during ovulation? I have NEVER ovulated on my own so I have no idea what to expect!!!

No, I would think with a jump in progesterone, they can tell that you ovulated.Check out this website, its really good for checking what hormone levels should be at different points in your cycle. Hormone Levels
