would you

plan your own shower? I feel funny about this, my mom and sisters all have their different issues and I doubt they'll plan me a shower.

Re: would you

Re: would you

Maybe you should just send an email to all of them with invites you like, location you are thinking about and a couple of dates...give them a hint.

See their reaction. Maybe that will get the ball rolling.

I agree. I felt the same way you did (that my family would not throw me one for various reasons).

But what I found, was that as my pregnancy progressed, friends and family members kept asking me if I was having a shower or where i was registered and when I said "no, I don't think so", SOOO many people volunteered to throw me one!

In the end SIL threw me one, she just hadn't thought to mention it to me till later on in my PG, but if she didn't, there were at least 2 or 3 friends that would have insisted on doing it.

Maybe if it's still early on in your pregnancy, you can sort of wait until someone asks and then hint that you would love one?

Re: would you

I helped plan mine. I wanted to be involved. I helped pick the place and guest list. The moms did everything else.

Re: would you

I don't know if I could see myself helping plan plan it, but I gave my mom a guest list b/c she said she would have no clue who to invite.

Would you be helping them along or would you be the one booking the place, sending invites, taking RSVPs, etc?

Re: would you

Definitely.
Gifts are not required- grown ups can decide whetehr to bring a gift. You are inviting- and paying for- a bunch of people ot get together with you to have lunch and celebrate your womb. If they bring gifts, it's their perogative- you're not asking for anything!
