Very Poor Credit Loan
Anyone know where someone with very poor credit can get a loan. Looking for a loan of about 5-7 thousand.

Re: Very Poor Credit Loan
You can get one if you have collateral, like a car you own outright, from most banks or credit unions. Kinda stinks though, its like paying for your car (if that's what you use) all over again.

Is this a possibility? These days getting a loan will be tough and you're going to pay interest through the nose if you can get approved. Good luck

Re: Very Poor Credit Loan
How about a credit union?
FH was able to get a pretty large consolidation loan with no collateral from a CU.

Re: Very Poor Credit Loan
Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately I really don't have any family that are in a position to lend any money. I will try the CU.

What is very poor? Are you looking for a debt consolidation loan?

credit score is probably around 500. The loan would be to pay off existing debt or catch up on late payments.

Re: Very Poor Credit Loan
You could try Prosper.com. People lend their own money (Small or large amounts) to fund a loan (It can be funded by many people, or just 1).
They'll bid on your loan with the interest rate they want, based on your credit history.
They are paid a portion of the interest over the life of the loan, and the website takes the other portion.
From the Website:
About Prosper: Prosper is an online community where people come together for person-to-person lending and borrowing money. Borrowing money through Prosper is fast and easy, and because other people can compete for your loan, the rates may be lower than you'd expect!
About Prosper loans: All Prosper loans are unsecured 3-year fully amortized loans. The interest rate is fixed for the life of the loan and does not change in the event of late payment or for any other reason. Fixed monthly payments may be automatically deducted from the borrowers bank account. Borrowers may prepay any portion of the loan without penalty.

FH used a CU for Nassau residents. I think it was called Sperling. They really worked with him.
