EMERGENCY- PLEASE READ TO SEE IF YOU CAN BE OF ANY HELP----update at bottom!!
I just came up the stairs and Milo was chewing on a book of mathces---I dont see that any of the Matches themselves are eaten, it just looks like the box that they were held in is partially eaten but not that much of it ---it is a small book of matches, the kind you get on the table at weddings......should I give him anything??????Is this poisonous???

Re: EMERGENCY- PLEASE READ TO SEE IF YOU CAN BE OF ANY HELP
I would call a 24 hour vet and see what they say. My cat once ate some flowers my DH bought me, and they said she might vomit but they said if she didn't react she was probably fine.
They might be able to give you advice over the phone.
Good luck!!

Re: EMERGENCY- PLEASE READ TO SEE IF YOU CAN BE OF ANY HELP
I found this on DoctorDog.com
'Phosphorus
This chemical is present in rat and roach poisons, fireworks, matches and matchboxes. A poisoned dog's breath may have a garlic odor. The first signs of intoxication are vomiting and diarrhea. They may be followed by a free interval, then by recurrent vomiting, cramps, and pain in the abdomen, convulsions and coma. There is no specific antidote. Treat as you would for strychnine.'

Re: EMERGENCY- PLEASE READ TO SEE IF YOU CAN BE OF ANY HELP
Thank you for all the replies and information. It has been almost an hour and a half and at first he was just sitting around all curled up but I think he was a little scared and knew he was in trouble because I yelled so loud when I saw him---and he normally lays low when he know he did something bad. But now he is running around and playing like nothing happened at all. He has not thrown up or had diarrhea at all. He is also drinking water. So I will continue to keep an eye on him for the rest of the night but so far so good. Continue to keep your fingers crossed and Thank you again for all your help!!!!!
