wait... didn't it SEEM like ben was born on the island---but then it turns out that he was brought by the submarine when he was a kid---remember him arriving to the island in flashbacks when they told his story?
that's right... I remember her being ON an island when she gave birth

Oh most definately! Which is why I like I said earlier, I think Penny's father has a huge role in all this. My thought is that it was his money that funded the people (before the purge) on the island and these "rescuers" are working for him (but they don't it). The scarey guy that was talking to Naomi and that went to see Hurley in the psych hospital I believe works directly for her father. I'm probably sooooooooooo far off though! 
I posted the same thing last week. I think that the "rescurers" are sent from Penny's dad to kill Desmond and bring back his body so Penny can finally accept his death and move on, since she is clearly still holding a torch for him.

They were in the woods hiking when she gave birth to him.

No. They had been hiking and were coming down by the side of the road when she gave birth, and died.

Ben Linus, one of the Others, claims to have been born on and lived on the island his entire life; however, this is a lie — he was actually born in the U.S., 32 miles from Portland, Oregon. His parents were Roger and Emily Linus. Emily went into labor only 7 months into the pregnancy during a walk in the woods and died from the complications that arose. With her dying words, she asked Roger to name their baby Benjamin. Several years after Ben's birth it is mentioned his father had difficulty finding work and was offered a job on the island from a man named Horace Goodspeed, a passerby who found and helped Roger and Emily soon after Ben's birth.

I can't imagine Locke even wanting to leave the island, since he is so in tune with it and he could possibly lose the use of his legs again. Maybe Claire? I feel like she HAS to survive, cause I can't imagine the psychic would have convinced her to go on that flight if she was just going to end up dead.

And why would Kate refuse to go.

What about the Dharma collar on the polar bear from the archaeological dig. Doesn't that mean Dharma has been around for a lot longer than we think?
Maybe - but I thought I heard Charlotte say something when she approached the bear about it being a find that wasn't so ancient, something like that, I don't remember the exact line. Being in desert conditions, a dead bear could've been covered over pretty quickly by the shifting sands, so I was thinking it could've been a semi-recent polar bear. But why in Tunisia??? Is that the first we've heard of anything Dharma related showing up somewhere else in the world? And that's another warm place where polar bears shouldn't be.

No it doesn't. I happen to think it's not one of the regulars. I think it's someone we have yet to be introduced to on the show, but is a key player in all this.

I just watched the new episode last night.....WOW!!!
Miles creeped me out, too. That was just eerie.
The Polar BEar?!?! Was there more than one Dharma experiment area?
Good thought that it's Michael on the boat!
