Re: Did anyone feel overwhelmed...
It can be so overwhelming. DH and I went to BRU at least three or four times when we registered for DS.
With regards to the stroller, I had to go and look and see what I could handle. We also had a very helpful sales associate that helped us pick the carseat. I saw things that I liked and then asked people what they thought. You might want to post on the parenting board also since many of the ladies have experience the products that you are looking at. You really have to go into the store and look at what would fit your lifestyle. Ex. the drop ins are great BUT I know myself and can't trust that I'll buy them before I run out...

Get the Baby Bargains book. It is saving my life. The ratings are really thorough and it really helps you understand what is out there and the things to look for.
I found mine in Borders (in the Children's section). You can also get it on Amazon or ebay.
Good luck!

Yes!! There is so much to think of that the whole process is overwhelming.
Get Baby Bargains - that was a lifesaver.
I made a spreadsheet (ok, I'm a nerd) and I listed all the categories that are on the BRU website and put each of the items underneath it to use as a guide.
BRU has a checklist too - that helped! And then you add and delete things are you remember to!

Re: Did anyone feel overwhelmed...
Yes, I was totally overwhelmed the first time I walked into BBB and BRU. I had never seen anything like it. So much stuff . . . just for babies!!!
I went back with my BF who just had her baby and I had the Baby Bargains book. She just told me what to register for. Made it so much more manageable. So my advice, go with a BTDT mom/friend. It won't be so bad!
