Gift help!
My uncle is turning 65 and my aunt is having a dinner for him (not a casual thing, but a $100/plate kind of affair..intimate, but at a really expensive place..they love to have parties at Major's and places like that with multiple courses and open bar).
I'm not super close with my uncle. I'm more like to chat with my aunt on the phone than with him. The thing is he's a millionaire. I don't mean he owns a house that's worth over a million. I mean he owns 4 houses (not rental properties..but houses they use..like their normal house in Kings park, their weekend house on the north fork and 2 houses in diff parts of FL) and several cadillacs. He's seriously rich and can buy anything he wants. I have always found it hard to shop for gifts for that part of the family (my uncle, aunt and cousins) because they buy expensive clothes so i can't afford to buy even a shirt or sweater of what they would wear. They're used to really expensive stuff.
That having been said, I need a gift for my uncle, either form me or my whole family. I know he drinks Johnny Walker Blue, so a bottle of that (not sure how much that even costs) and something else?
I know for a fact if I gave him $$$ he'd never cash the check, so that's out.
He travels a lot for business, if that helps.
He's not an intellectual kind of guy. He's VERY smart. He made it from ZILCH to being rich on his own (he owns a construction biz), but he will say he's a "dumb contractor." I know he did read The DaVinci code and probably the sequel..is there another book like that?

Re: Gift help!
That's a tough one. I would say go with the scotch that he likes. I used to do my old boss's Christmas shopping every year and she dealt with people who were worth lots of money. She always had me go to Red Envelope ( here's the link http://www.redenvelope.com ), they have some nice travel items for him. Hope this helps.

The "just a contractor" reminds me of this photo:
They were all just contractors but they happen to build the entire city.

Wow, these are great! I was going to suggest a Time Magazine from the day he was born.
