Underwater Cameras
If you were going to take a camera underwater. A Canon Powershot would you
A: Get the $160 case - hard case for it B: The $30 thing that looks like a Ziploc C: 5-10 27 exposure film disposable cameras?

Re: Underwater Cameras
I've used disposables in the past. My DH has a digital camera that is waterproof to 10 feet without any protective case (his is Olympus and the case for that one is $300 which was more than the camera)

Re: Underwater Cameras
I voted for disposable. I used the Kodak ones on my HM and they took really good pictures.

Re: Underwater Cameras
I vote case...
My friends love beach and water and invested in it...every trip they have gone on, they get great photos in the pool, beach, snoorkleing (sp), etc...
2 pictures are from Cancun over the past summer...

Re: Underwater Cameras
HARD case.
We took our canon digital rebel on our honeymoon after we JUST bought it w/in the same month and got the thing that looks like a ziplock but w/ heavier plastic.. Somehow it leaked and I was out almost $1,000 b/c I sent it back to Canon and they told me it was water damage and it wasn't under warranty!!

Re: Underwater Cameras
How much will 10 disposable cameras cost? It might just be cheaper to buy the case.

Re: Underwater Cameras
My sister and BIL scuba dive and they have the hard case. The pics are wayyyy better than a disposable camera (no offense to anyone) so I would say if you plan on using it alot buy the hard case.

Re: Underwater Cameras
I've used the disposable underwater cameras when I went snorkeling in the Caribbean and the pictures came out GREAT! I would not risk using my camera underwater

My DH owns a scuba shop and has the hard case. The pictures are much better, so if you'll use it a few times it's worth it.

That SUX!! I was worried about that! Since the disposables limit the # of pics I can take Im gonna get a case. I like to see what im taking and the cost of the case vs the dispsables makes more sense to get a case

Re: Underwater Cameras
We just purchased the Olympus 790sw Digital Camera it can go underwater up to 10 feet.
We got tired of Disposable Underwater Cameras. The quality of the pictures are really not that good. Its just my opinion!

Re: Underwater Cameras
i've used the disposable many times and they work great, FYI- don't bring in your carry on, the x-ray machine will erase the film.

Re: Underwater Cameras
The hard case. My brother has one and when his one year old son threw his camera in the pool, he didn't have to worry.

Re: Underwater Cameras
I've used the disposible and now adays when you get them developed you can have the pics put on a CD, so in the end you have them digital.
