RE question

I am going for blood work tomorrow morning to see if I am O. Will they be able to give me that info the same day?
I am also dropping off DH's "sample" for SA. How long do you usually have to wait for those results?

Re: RE question

Yes, because everything has to be so carefully timed, you will get your results the same day. I usually have mine within a couple of hours. Same with the SA, they have to do it right away as well, so you should know the same day.

Those might take a few days. When they ran the whole battery of blood on me at my first RE appointment, the only results I got back the same day were when they saw I was in the process of O'ing that day. Everything else took close to a week to get back.

Can the DR start me on metformin BEFORE getting my glucose results back?

Re: RE question

Yes, that is a stat test. I know my RE does that right in the office. As for glucose, it took 5-6 days to get my results back.

Re: RE question

I started on the Metformin before having a glucose test--but I came to find out that was an oversight on my dr's part Chat Icon

But, as far as I know, you can start it right away. I know I did.

Re: RE question

Yes, my OB actually put me on Metformin, and had me start it right away, I did have bloodwork done maybe 4 days later, so I don't tihnk the Met really interfered at that point with the test results.

Re: RE question

On a side note- Not sure if your doc office is the same as mine- butI think you might need to bring a copy of his ID or something like that when dropping off a sample (My DH always brings his own but I remember them telling me something to that effect when they were giving the instructions to us)...Just thought I'd mention it Chat Icon
