For those of you with divorced parents..
If your parents remarried, what will your dc call their new spouse?
FIL got engaged last night and I have no idea what our child is going to call his new wife, or her son...
Should I just ask them what they want to be called? I really have no problem with whatever they want to be called, I just dont want to hurt anyones feelings, and I am deathly afraid that my mil will lose it if she finds out that her grandchild is also calling her ex husbands new wife grandma

My parents are divorced. My dad is remarried and his wife wants to be called grandma...i'm sure it will be grandma Lane(her name) because I want my mom to also be called grandma since my 3 nephews already call her that.

i would ask what they want to be called- my grandparents are all divorced and remarried before i was born- i call them all grandma and grandpa- except for some reason i never called my grandfather's wife grandma, always just by her first name... my cousins (who are much younger) however do call her grandma...

My parents are divorced. My mom and step dad will be called grandma and grandpa....my dad and his wife we are still ???? I'm assuming my dad will be called granddad but his wife is only 9 years older then me and they have a three year old so I don't really see her being called grandma. Maybe aunt robin???

My stepfather has requested to be called Popsky which is fine but everyone else - no one's fighting over that name

I am a step parent and I can only speak for myself here... when my SC eventually marries I would not expect to be called Grandma... nor would I want to be. I'd still go by my first name as I am with my SC and my parent's are not Grandma and Grandpa to my SC either, they go by first names. Grandma is for SC's mother and I have no business in that. I would think my kids would be regarded as Aunts/Uncles but they are also my SC's half sibblings... I don't have any kids from before the marriage. JMO, everyone's different.

my parents are divorced and both remarried, but both almost 20 years, so my dc will call them grandma/grandpa.......now my DHs mom has a 'friend'----he will be called by his first name
