Why does my cat meow for no reason?
Phoebe, one of my cats likes to start meowing for no particular reason.
She'll be in somewhere and the house and we hear "merroow" "meeeeeeeowwww" "mrrrrrrrrrooooooow"
She not stuck anywhere, doesn't want food. I think she just likes to hear herself talk.
My other two don't do that.

One of my cats does that, we always say that he's gotten lost in his own house (he's not the brightest cat).

Mine sounds like a pidgeon sometimes when she purrs.
But she does that meowing for no reason too. I think she just wants attention.
Then there are times where I swear she has nightmares - she'll suddenly wake up and seem startled and start crying the meekest little meow and come running over to me to be petted.

My mom's cat does that, too...
Her name is Doodle. She usually calms down when we hear her start and we say "Doo, you're not alone!"
OP is probably right, she probably just likes to hear herself talk.
