Re: I want to go ice skating
My husband mentioned something about a rink in Nassau- in Oyster Bay somewhere- it was an outside rink. In Suffolk there's Rinx in Hauppauge, and the new rink at teh Port Jeff Village Center.

Re: I want to go ice skating
There is iceworks in Syosset. I not sure if they have public sessions. That is where the Islanders play.
You can also try the rink in New Hyde Park , I can't remember the name. Its a little far if you live around Newbridge.
There is also a rink in Great Neck, again a little far.
I think there maybe one I am forgettting. I used to figure skate up until I was 16. I always check out where all the rinks are, I still like to go with my DH.

Ice Works and I think there is a rink in the freeport rec center. I am too scared to try it, I remember going when I was little to Newbridge and falling a lot.

Re: I want to go ice skating
There is skating a the Bethpage Community park across from the HS. I don't know if it's decent, or just packed with kids. I haven't been since I was in HS.
There is also the place that used to be EAB plaza in Uniondale.
I found this list, scroll down to below the sledding info:

Syosset-Woodbury Community Park (opposite the Fox Hollow) has an outdoor ice-skaing rink with public sessions. The public sessions are Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission for 18 and over is $4. there is an indoor lounge area with fireplace and concession stand.

Re: I want to go ice skating
I love to skate. Most rinks have crappy ice with grooves and its a bad skate if you want to build up momentum. Long Beach had good ice at one time, but I havent been there in years. Try to find a rink where there is a hard core hockey league or where the Isles or Rangers practice. Most of the time, the Zamboni's arent used as often as they should be. People fall more when the ice is bad. Im an ice snob.

me too. I wanted indoor. I used to skate a lot at Newbridge when I was younger..I took lessons for years. The public skate there is awful. I like the ice when nobody has been on it and where everyone's blades are sharpened. That keeps the ice nicer longer. The one in Syosset doesn't have a public skate.
But alas, the moment I wanted to do some cold exersize, Ihave come down with a stuffy nose and headache..
