What is the level 2

I read about this all the time, but I'm not sure what it is and when it's done. I have an appointment on Tuesday for my 20 week ultrasound and an appt with my OB on Thursday next week, not sure if this is the level 2? What is involved in this test and at what point in the pregnancy is it done?

I had mine at 20 weeks. It's a long ultrasound (about 30-45 minutes) where they examine the organs and measure everything. It helps rule out certain birth defects and lets the doctor see how the baby is growing. You also get to know the sex if you want to.

That's the level II, where I live its the "anatomy scan". It's a long sonogram where they make sure that the baby has all the appropriate parts in all the right places and that they are developing correctly and that there are no genetic issues that manifest with physical signs. You can also find out the gender if you wish- if you don't make sure it's the first thing out of your mouth when you meet the tech to avoid accidental gender-specific pronouns. You'll get a ton of pictures! Enjoy.

Thank you both so much for the info. I guess this is what I'm having done on Tuesday... I hope everything's going okay... it's a bit nerve racking with all these tests but I know it's a good thing.
