Shower vs baptism invitees

So I have been only to a few showers and I am the first one in my family that is having a baby shower. I am finalizing my list of invitees and there are a few friends that I want to invite (co-workers, wife of a good friend). DH and I both have large families so the invite list is up to 70 women (expecting 50 to show up)

The baptism list is around 120 people (I know its crazy!). We don't even know where we are going to have it! My question is - should the people invited to the shower be invited to the baptism? I'm not sure if it is expected that the friends and co-workers that are invited to the shower shoudl also be invited to the baptism. I don't want them to think I am inviing them to the shower just for a gift. I'm not sure what the right thing is to do - any suggestions?

Re: Shower vs baptism invitees

I am inviting roughly 60 friends and family to the shower. This includes friends, co-workers and neighbors of my moms.

My Baptism list is about 100 and will only be close family and very close friends.

I don't know if I can cut the list down...

In my opinion baptism/christening is more for family and very close firends , where as shower I would invite co workers, friends I haven't see nin a while ,etc. I had invited about 75 people to my shower with about 48 coming but for christening, when we get to ti, imagine the list will stil lbe as many but will be close friends and famliy and their children.

I will not be inviting everyone to the baptism that I invited to the shower. It is just too many people and I have to cut the list somewhere.

Re: Shower vs baptism invitees

We are keeping the baptism to just family. I have a big family so it'll already be about 60 people. Plus, I'm the first of friends to have a baby and I don't want anyone to feel obligated to come or give a gift.

I won't be inviting any co-workers, parent's friends, friends' parents, etc. to the christening. Hopefully I'll have the same number of guests at the christening that we did at the shower... considering the shower was women only and the christening will not be.
