Can your due date be way off?
I'm starting to wonder whether my due date may be way off....as I have posted I have a very large baby for 33 weeks, all along since my first sonogram the baby has measured about several weeks later than what we based due date on--which of course was what I think my LMP was...which I know was accurate within a few days for sure...is it possible to be off by as much as 3 weeks or is this just wishful thiking on my part.....even last night at my sono, every measurement came up 37 or 38 weeks, just not sure if that means anything...

Re: Can your due date be way off?
I'm really not sure, it's probably just wishful thinking but I jsut think its weird that it s been so consistently off and now I have this big baby, which I know is a good thing and of course I don't want him to early as I don't want problems but just thought maybe if the date was off that would make more sense.

Re: Can your due date be way off?
What was your first sono?
My baby was measuring ahead at 22 weeks by about 2 weeks as well, but that didnt change my due date. Then at my 36 week it was almost dead on.
My due date which is 1 day different than if based on my LMP is based on the first sono which I have heard is the most accurate in determining the due date.

Re: Can your due date be way off?
My SIL delivered an 8lb 10 oz baby one full month before her due date. I mean, he was a BIG boy, and not any signs of being the slightest bit underdeveloped.
I think maybe babies just grow at different speeds towards the very end?
I mean, when she went to the dr her first few visits, everything seemed to grow as indicated and being that the first 3 months are so specific as to growth, I can't imagine that they were a month off in determining her due date.

Re: Can your due date be way off?
unfortuantly i think its wishful thinking..sorry! my mom measured bigger for both my brothers...her stomach was measuring over to the twins side for my lil bro and he came out at 11lbs (not saying that you will have an 11lb baby!!!) but she was late with all of us by atleast a week she just had bigger babies....so her dates werent off at all....

How big was your baby measuring? At 33 weeks my baby was 4.1lbs... they told me that was a tiny bit smaller than average.

Re: Can your due date be way off?
At my 20 week sono with DD#1 the specialist who read it, sent a note back to my Dr. saying that I was at least 2 weeks more p/g than my due date showed. My Dr. said that he doesn't change due dates because the first sono(7 weeks) is most accurate because the developmental changes shown at that point are very easy to date. Well DD arrived 3 weeks early and was 7lbs 12oz and totally done cooking. So I say yes, It can be wrong.

Re: Can your due date be way off?
i have no idea if your dates can be wrong...but my son measured 3-4 weeks ahead for most of my pregnancy.....and though he was taken two weeks early via a scheduled c-section...he was still just coming early, not at 40 weeks. the reason he measured bigger though is bc i'm a juvenile diabetic and was having a tough trouble with controlling my blood sugars. a lot of the reason why diabetics have larger babies....(not saying you're a diabetic, just saying maybe the dates right, just the baby is growing faster than others!) #2 is already measuring bigger....and i'm currently 22 weeks today. who knows....we'll see soon enough....regardless, bigger babies are awesome! i loved my chubby little guy!!!

Re: Can your due date be way off?
Due dates are due dates. Don't pay much attention to size. I measured small in the first trimester, normal in the second trimester and then things got tricky in the third trimester. I ended up having an EARLY 11 pound 8oz baby. And I knew the exact day I conceived.
ETA: I was not diabetic, although they tested me every week.

Re: Can your due date be way off?
My due date is 3/25. At my level II the baby was measuring a week less.....4/1. But they are keeping my due date. At least for now.

Re: Can your due date be way off?
With my first my origianl due date was May 14th according to measurements and LMP. As time progressed so did the baby and it kept changing the EDD (which that is all it is an estimated Due Date). I was eventually changed to April 29th and delivered April 18th.
With this one I measured a week or so behind until after the first trimester, now I am exactly on target. I'm confident and hope I go early again.
