How bad is it that I'm not a fan of...

the name we've chosen for the baby? It has a lot of significance- the 1st name is my FIL's middle name, he passed away 2 days after we found out we're expecting a boy & the middle name is my husband's name at birth- he's adopted, his biological mother was Polish- the name will be "William Marek". When people ask & I respond, I'm obviously less than enthusiastic. I feel really bad about that.

Im sure once you have the baby and start referring to him by that name and can put a name with his face, that you will start to love the name too. Eventually you wont even be able to imagine him with any other name. The name has a very nice significance to it and the truth is, down the road alot of parents change their minds about the names they liked anyway...but yours will always be special. Plus, its not like its a weird or bad name--its cute!!

The middle name we chose if we have a girl is for significance also...not my favorate name by any means. It actually is a little too long sounding with the first name also...Addison Rosemary....but its a combination of DHs moms name and my moms name and I think thats more important than anything.

I'm torn about this too b/c I want to use my mom's name for a middle name if we have a girl - but I'm not a fan of her name (actually, neither is she).
But I know when I see the baby and name her (if it's a her) I'll love whatever name she has.

I feel the same way. DH is adamant about naming our son after himself and his father (diff middle name) and I have never liked that particular name. I feel horrible because I catch myself when people ask what we are naming the baby, answering "same as DH, not like I have any choice in the matter" and come off sounding angry and bitter.

I'm not so much angry anymore, as resigned to the fact and I also hate the fact that I do not like baby's name. But I guess you just can't fight family tradition, and hopefully like the previous poster said, once we attach the name to the face, maybe then, we will love it because it belongs to someone we love and cherish.

That being said, I love my DH to death! Still hate his name.

I think that name is cute, so many cute nicknames for William you can use if you wish and the middle name is unique! the name has so much meaning that you will not grow tired of it, its not a fad name.
we have chosen the middle name Jacklynn and are spelling it differently because it has meaning for me mainly...Jack was my grandpas name he passed last nov. and my middle name is Lynn so we combined the two...now I dont like the name Jaclyn personally for a first name but that is just me, but for her middle name and how we are spelling it, i love it because of the meaning behind it.

I love the name. Sounds beautiful. I'm sure once you meet your son the name will flow a lot nicer. If not, than pick a back up and once he is born you'll decide.

My first child past away. I decided that I wanted my DD to have his initals. His initals were CBI. The only names we could agree on was Chelsea Brooke. I didn't love it and all the way up till the day she was born I was looking for names to replace it. But the meaning behind it made me keep it. Chelsea is now almost 8 weeks old and I love her name. It grew on me after she was born! I say keep it. It will mean so much to your son when he is older!

I am so torn myself because my DH wants to name the baby after his father if it is a boy. It isn't a bad name, just nothing I would choose and I don't know if it is worth me starting a huge family ordeal over it.
