I'm famous

Chat Icon Just kidding. But I was just doing some research and came across a website I had posted a question on and then promptly forgot-the Dr responded to me and I just found it. I was reading it and thinking wow this is like a mirror image to my history-then I realized it was me.

Not reallyChat Icon But it was nice to see that a traditional Dr thought some of these therapies were worthwhile. I feel comfortable with the prednisone and will talk to my Dr about stopping at 20 weeks when I get PG

What did you think about the insulin resistance question?

I though it was interesting. I was not aware of the link between PAI-1 and insulin. But I did have the 2 hr glucose tolerance test and i asked the doc about that. We'll see if he responds.

Re: I'm famous

I just wanted to let you know that I tested for the PAI-1 as well. I was told that people with the PAI-1 usually test positive for the 4g/5g polymorphism as well. When they tested me I was found to be 4g/4g. Since people with this are at a heightened risk for diabetes and PCOS I was tested. It turned out I have PCOS with regular cycles. I just have issues ovulating. It has something to do with the way my body processes insulin. It throws off the insulin to glocose ratio hence screwing with my hormones since insulin is a hormone. I had to go on Metformin to get pregnant. I was weened off at 14 weeks.
Long story short (too late I know), check your bloodwork to see if they tested for the 4g/5g polymorphism. If not ask your doctor to. I was told that without the Metformin even if I released an egg it would not produce a viable pregnancy. The egg would be too strong or too weak. I don't know if this will help you or not but figured I would pass the word along.
