they are out!
i saw my first bell ringer today in front of century 21. yup that's right - the salvation army is at it again!
all i can say is  i HATE hearing that bell! if i want to donate i will, ok? good thing they aren't allowed inside the buildings - can you imagine?!
ETA: to clarify, i hate the BELL, not the volunteers.

see now THAT i would love! i am jewish and my favorite thing about this season is the music, maybe because i never got to hear those songs at home growing up.

I LIKE the bell ringing, if they just stand there and ring, but I kinda don't like when they solicit the donations, like “they” hold the door for me or specifically ask me to 'help'. The reason is, I donate about $40 a week to various charities and volunteer my time at a shelter. I donate to my charities almost every DAY. I feel like when I say “No” to them they think I am evil or cheap or don’t want to help. I know that’s MY issue, but I hate being accosted outside every store. JMO.
Just stand there and ring without making eye contact with me, I'm all for it

you're right mel - it is for a good cause. to all the volunteers out there! and for the record, i would much prefer if you would use a cow bell. I NEED MORE COW BELL!!!

uggg I saw one a few days ago at macys. she saw me on the way in and i kinda smiled and walked faster as she rang her bell. when i left she started ringing it really loud like "get back here! give me money! bahhhhh"
