I don't understand
I had a Fios tech here from 3:30 until 6:30 and he couldn't figure out what is wrong with my computer. He connected his laptop to our modem and we're getting the correct signal, but my computer is not getting the signal.
I called up a tech when he left and the tech told me that I need to reinstall the network adapter driver because it must be bad. How could it be bad, when a month ago with Optimum I had lightning fast speed?
I'm beyond p1ssed right now.

Re: I don't understand
Maybe DHCP isn't enabled. It's possible you had a fixed IP address before, and now it's on a different network, so it's not being recognized.
To check, type "cmd" at the Start->Run window. That opens a DOS prompt. Type "ipconfig /all" One of the lines says "Dhcp Enabled...." It should say Yes at the end. You should also see a Default Gateway, DHCP Server, DNS Servers, and a few other things.
Have you tried swapping the network cables? It could be loose on one end, or it could be a bad cable that stopped working after all of the new activity.

Re: I don't understand
I did the prompt that brought me to the dos page and everything is working fine. My cables all seem to be connected...
