How Do You...
How do you keep your boss aware of what you are doing at work without copying him on everything you are doing.
I come in and do my job and am very self sufficient. But I was notified to keep one of my bosses in the loop more...I don't like to copy them on everything because I feel like I am kid going " Hey look at me I am going my work!"

Re: How Do You...
They used to do that at my old job, then at that job I got a new boss that said " Don't copy me on everything. I know you are working. "
I guess I'll start to CC this boss on big things I do so they feel like they know what is going on.

Re: How Do You...
I would just come out and ask your boss his/her preferance - do they want to be cc'd, do they want a daily or weekly update email from you?

Thats micromanaging...I used to tell my boss everything and copy her in on everything until I realised that she didn't want to be copied in on everything and she didn't need to know every little thing I was doing.
What I learned through time is I tell her things on a need to know basis. So for instance, if there is an incident with something that client might ask her about, or if something has changed. Part of my job is to deal with things so she doesn't have to, but she does need to be aware of what I am doing, so we have a short catchup during really busy times everyday, even if its over a cup of coffe in the morning (we call these our Reccies) We make lists of what we need to do and what has already been done. And basically...if something goes wrong, I let her know after I have dealt with it in case a client comes back about it.
I hope thats helped!

Re: How Do You...
Weekly status meetings, and monthly status reports.... plus CCs on important stuff.
My boss doesn't micromanage, but his bosses want the reports.....
