IBS and Pregnancy...
The good, the bad and the ugly....
Ladies who have IBS and are pregnant or have been pregnant.. how bad is it? Did it get worse, better, the same???
I have IBS without constipation and I think I am starting a flare up and it was so bad today that I had to leave work . I always have a really bad tummy but every once in a while I get a really bad flare up where I get sick 4 or more times a week. The last one lasted 3 or 4 months. It was so awful. I have been getitng sick a lot more often in the past few weeks and I am about to start my TWW. I am just so scared that a pregnancy will make it so much worse. I think that this flare up is do to the crazy stress I have been under recently (death in the family and a m/c plus just general life sucks stress.. LOL). But it could also be related to the crazy hormone changes with getting pg and then m/c (it also took almost 40 days for my HCG to get below 5).
ANYWHOOO.. Long winded. sorry. I would love to hear some feedback. How has it been for you guys??? Thanks

Re: IBS and Pregnancy...
Mine completely went away when I was pregnant. I have never felt better. But. . . . . it came back after DS was born.

Re: IBS and Pregnancy...
Mine has gotten better, but at times gone to the other extreme (constipation). Colace has been a big help for that though. Feel Better!!

Re: IBS and Pregnancy...
I went to a dr about a year before I got pregnant and got it under control through lifestyle changes. It has not been an issue at all!

Mine has been about the same. It comes and goes. I do not think pregnancy has made it worse.

Re: IBS and Pregnancy...
I have IBS without constipation as well and it was horrendous weeks 3-~9/10 (I actually knew I was pregnant at 3 weeks b/c of the flare up). I lost about 6% of my body weight and actually was underweight for a bit. But around weeks 9/10, it eased up and I put the weight back on and I've been fine since. Basically, I think that my morning sickness actually presented via the IBS instead of vomiting.

Re: IBS and Pregnancy...
I thought I was going to be so sick but I was actually better while PG. I got sick again in the last 3 weeks before giving birth. I got VERY messed up after the c-section though. It took me weeks to be "regular" again.
