Pregnancy Monitor
I was just browsing on that website that shows the progress of the baby..etc..
I noticed that quite a few mommies to be are in their teens and not married.
Not that you have to be married or older to have a baby, but I was surprised at how many there were...17, 19 and "in a relationship?"
And, they all listed SAHM and/or student.

Re: Pregnancy Monitor
Yes, I belong to another pregnancy message board with people from all over the country and I am one of the oldest people having my first baby. I think it is different in other parts of the country where you don't need as much money to survive like here on LI.

Re: Pregnancy Monitor
I found the same thing when I was browsing another website and came back to this one because I just felt I have more in common with the moms-to-be here. I'm 40 and having my first, so I was like a grandmother compared to many of the girls on the other site!

My sister was 15 when she got pregnant and had my nephew 4 months after she turned 16. She graduated high school early with honors and at 20 will be graduating college in a few months and will be an RN in labor and delivery.
I agree that it isn't the norm and it is something I wouldn't want for my child but it is possible for younger girls to lead a successful life after a young pregnancy...and not on welfare.

Re: Pregnancy Monitor
I'm 34 and sometimes feel I'm too young to be doing this... I couldn't have even fathomed having a child before 30, but I guess it's all personal choice.

While she finished high school the dad had him during the day. During college he was/is in day care. When she works my mom watches him.
