Uh Oh... I was exposed to shoe polish
I am freaking out right now... I just got my shoes back from the shoemaker (he was fixing the heal) and he polished them. I put them on and while I was in the car I realized that i was smelling the polish. How horrible is this???? I am almost at my 7th week. I am now sitting in my office, barefoot- with my shoes in the opposite corner.

I am sure you are fine. I painted my front door with toxic oil based paint 3 times, and sanded it without a mask before knowing I was pregnant. My doctor told me not to worry.

I wouldn't worry. I painted the nursery and didn't think twice about it. I also sprayed my dog with Flea killer and am fine. Never heard of the shoe polish thing.

Thank you girls for your response. Someone in my office had said "uh oh" when I told her so i got nervous.
And to COLLEEN- I didn't know that I wasn't permitted to be a worried newbie. Excuse me for getting scared. I thought this was a welcoming board. I guess I should take my worries eslewhere.

Again, you've left me confused jeggs.
I had never heard of shoe polish being hazardous to pregnant women - or anyone, for that matter - so I posed the question.
Sorry you're scared...however barefoot & pregnant is how they like us women, so you're doing good
