patchogue holbrook rd/ nichols rd
I heard there was a accident today over there and the traffic was backed up for 45 minutes... according to a fellow co-worker, Does anyone know what happened????Thanks

I heard something on the radio this morning. A car flipped over and medivac was needed.
ETA: I think it was near Nichols Rd/Patchogue Holborrk Rd.

It was on Nichols Road at the Patchogue-Holbrook Road exit. A car and a van collided and the car flipped over. Someone was taken to the hospital by helicopter. It happened about 8:00 this morning. Both sides of Nichols Road were shut down for about an hour.

I just heard on News 12 that the driver of the car didn't make it and the driver of the van suffered head injuries

Is there any articles on it as it says it was a 61 yr. old man from Holbrook. I am from Holbrook and see nothing on News12 or Newsday?

nichols road is so dangerous. so many people get killed there. If it's not due to speeding or some object on the ground that people try to swerve and avoid, it's becuase it's pitch black at night... and long stretches of road have no streetlights at all.
In the northern part, by the university, cars frequently get hit when people run 'barely red' lights and broadside oncoming traffic. I had 2 of my classmates killed while in gradschool that way.
sad that this can happen on a regular basis, with no one trying to improve that road

My friend was in the accident
Apparently she was having transmission issues. Was trying to pull over to the side of the road and the person behind her was in a rush, hit her and she hit the person in front of her who's car flipped.
That's all I know right now, but if I hear anything else I'll let you guys know.
