I was gone for 10 minutes....
to get paint for the room we are re-doing. I walk back in the house to find my glass bowl taken off the shelf and on the floor in the middle of the living room and the bag of potpourri was torn up and spread all over the living room floor. How can I leave Yogi alone without him tearing the place up???
PS- it was kinda funny too But don't tell that to DH

Make sure he knows what he was doing was wrong by saying No and bad boy/girl in a stern voice.
And when he does show positive behavior, reward him, so he knows what is acceptable.

I would suggest only doing this if you catch them in the act.
Have you thought about crate training?

Yogi is crate trained. We are trying to wean him off the crate by leaving him for short periods of time (no more than an hour). He usually does well and just lays on his bed and goes to sleep.

Maybe he isn't ready yet Or maybe you can start in a room that doesn't have to much he can get in to.

During the day, he is locked up in a room. We put his bed and his crate (open) in there with him. He never has accidents and there is really nothing for him to get into.

I would try to keep everything you can think of that he "might" get into, and put it away. If Jessi taught us anything, its to put things away. She was notorious for getting into everything when she was a puppy...so much so that eventually she would take all the toilet paper and tear that to bits
