Ladies with Disabled Parents
My mother has a muscle disease, that is very similar to muscular dystrophy. The difference is that it started to manifest in the last 5 years or so. Her vision is awful, she has limited strength in her extremities, will need a cane very shortly and her speech and memory are greatly affected.
I'm having a hard time imagining her holding the baby (not sitting down). I know 100% she won't be able to watch the baby alone. My heart aches for her, because I know how much that will kill her. That she won't be able to walk around the house and rock the baby to sleep, etc. That she can't have the baby over w/o my dad there. This is her first grandchild.
How have you dealt with the sensitivity issue and your mom or dad? I just don't want her to feel left out at all. I have some ideas, but I'm just wondering what/if any of you have experienced.
TIA.

Re: Ladies with Disabled Parents
I don't even know how to answer this... Brian's mom has MS, but she has had it for a while, and I think that she has just gotten accustomed to not being able to help with the baby if she's standing. Only if she's sitting...
She does have a walker, but there is still nothing that she will be able to do if the baby is crying, and she's an infant who needs to be held.
