Ice or heat?

My husband really hurt his knee....he said that it totally gave out, and he fell, and it went the opposite way then it was supposed to. He is very stubborn, and wont go to the dr yet, so should he ice it, or put heat on it? Thanks!

Ice if it's swollen. And get him to a Dr. ASAP.

Re: Ice or heat?

Ice on accute phase (24-48 hours). Max of 20 minutes. Off 40 minutes (you double the time you put it on).

It won't do "miracles" though.

Re: Ice or heat?

ice, but if it gets really swollen he may have torn something and might make it worse if not treated.

Trust me, I've been there, it's not fun.

Hope your DH feels better.
