AC question

random question i kno:

does ur ac go into a regular outlet?

my air conditioner goes into what looks like a special outlet, but when i unplug it and put into a regular outlet it still works..

could i cause a fire if its not in what looks like the special outlet?

how can i tell the watts or voltage?

Re: AC question

We have a super big AC that cools the whole house- that one needs a special outlet- the plug wouldn't fit in a regular one. (It's the kind of AC that goes in the wall- not in a window)
But our smaller one for the bedroom window- that uses a regular outlet.
Generally you can tell by the plug... if it needs a special outlet it won't fit in your normal ones...

Re: AC question

You are more likely to trip a circuit breaker ( or blow a fuse if you live in a really old building!) than start a fire.

My larger AC is on it's own circuit, my smaller one isn't but I can't iron or blow dry my hair when it's on! Chat Icon
