Is it wrong...

that I didn't send a sympathy card to my aunts boyfriend to acknowledge his mother passing away although I never met her or knew her and don't know him well? I did send my aunt an email since that is how we were notified she had passed and asked her to give him OUR condolences. However, it appears that wasn't good enough because she sent me ANOTHER email saying she's would have thought by now I would have sent a card?

I'm sorry, I didn't know it was required of me to do that, nor did I think of it especially since I didn't know her. I thought an email would have been enough. Am I wrong?

I don't think you were wrong. Maybe your aunt is dealing with alot right now.
You could always send one now if you wanted....I personally don't think it's ever too late but I definitely don't think it was terrible of you to not do it. Although - remember the card is not acknowledging that you knew the person who passed but that you were recognizing that the people left are in grief.

I guess it would have been nicer to deliver condolences in some way to him personally - phone, email, card - not through your aunt. Whether or not you knew his mother is irrelevant - your aunt's bf experienced the loss and you do know him.

Maybe your aunt is just being sensitive to her BF who is grieving right now. Chat Icon

I defenitely think that's the case...and I feel bad, but I thought since she has been emailing us with details, it was easier and the best way to get a message to her. Oh well..live and learn right?

That's always the case.

Like Andys-bride said, it's never too late to send a card.
