For those of you who like to bake

I am making up my wedding registry and would like to register for the silicone bakeware like this and I was wondering if any of you currently have it and if you like it or not. It seems like a good idea in theory but no one I know has them. Thanks in advance!

I have the muffin pan, used it once. It was kind of a PITA bc it's floppy and was unsteady when I picked it up to put it in the oven, so I stuck a cookie sheet under it to hold it on the rack.

I have the bunt pan too, but never used it.

I just used ours for the first time the other night and I liked it. It was so easy to take the cake out and everything was clean.

I don't use silicone bakeware. Too many reviewers that I trust (cooking shows and magazines) don't care for it. Also, apparently many kinds of desserts don't brown as well as they do in traditional (metal or glass) bakeware.

That purple set is really pretty, though!

I have a mini muffin one for my specialty pecan tassies, and I love it. I just wiggle it to pop them out, when with a metal one I'd have to pry them out with a knife, and usually break half of them.
And since it is wiggly, I put it on a cookie sheet. Some come with a metal rack. I would suggest either way.

I have the muffin pan, I like it but since it's not sturdy I do put a cookie sheet under it.

I have the 8" square cake pan. I've used it once, for fudge. I really liked it for that, and the floppiness helped to ease the fudge out of the pan. I haven't tried it with actual baking, but I imagine it would be fine.

Ya know, I've always looked at those and wondered about them. I don't think I would feel comfortable baking with something so floppy.

They're so cute though, and I love the colors.

For spring, Williams-Sonoma comes out with subtle colored matching sets of mixing bowls, bakeware, aprons... I think I'll wait for that to get my color fix. Green color fix of course.

I've heard not-so-great things about silcon bakeware. I love Cook's Illustrated (they're sort of the cooking Cosumer's Report) unbiased reviews and the silicon bakeware generally gets a big thumbs down. Apparently, things don't cook evenly or brown well.

Is it the non-stick factor? I have non-stick bakeware and with a light spray of Pam I never have a sticking problem.

I use silicone bakeware and I love it. Nothing really sticks and everything cooks evenly. You do have to put a cookie sheet under it.

I worked in restaurants for 10 years, and one of the top restaurants on LI used silicone for baking.

ETA: if stuff isn't cooking properly then it is the oven not exactly the bake ware. You need to turn stuff as it cooks.

I have the riged silicone muffin cups and while they are easy to bake in, cleaning out the ridges is a PIA.
