Wat would you do?
I go to the local gas station right up the block from me. I go there because it is very convient for me. I was 1 day late for my inspection, I get it done, it was so fast- less then 15 minutes. They tell me it is becuase they know my car. I pay and also pay for a bottle of water. I leave and less then 5 minutes later, I am back becuase I know I left the water on the counter. The man behind the counter who yelled at me for being 1 day late with the inspection, told me he did not have my bottle of water- maybe I took it, I told him NO I am positive I do not have it. He was pretty obnixous with me too. I always am nice to them in there, and even tip very nicely when I get work done- a month ago I had new tires, brakes etc, done. Would you just forget it and go back like nothing happened? or never go back again? Or call the main office and tell them how nasty they were?
PS I am the type of person that if I get back too much $$ I give it back, etc.He especially got nasty after he saw my last name..... It is a 1.49 bottle of water, it is the principle that he accused me of lying about it, and I do not lie.....

I would call and let them know how poorly I was treated. I would then tell them that I will be taking my business elsewhere. There's no excuse for that type of behaviour.

Yelling at you for being 1 day late? Somehow I doubt you are the first person in their history to be late...  A lot of people are late by months or years.... My SIL said she'd rather pay the fine for an expired inspection than deal with the actual inspection every year! 
I would let the water go, and never go back there again. Unfortunately, you can't prove that you didn't get your water.
