Not ok after D&C

In June I had to have a D&C due to complications caused by my ADHD medication. Since then I have not been able to get over it, I've been depressed and have been grieving ever since. Everyone kept telling me I would get over it and be ok, but honestly I'm not...and I feel like I never will. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Did it get easier? I'm having a hard time thinking it will. I have seen a psychatrist about it, but, it hasn't helped. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Not ok after D&C

I had a lot of anxiety after my D&C but not as bad as what you are saying. I felt like I was missing something and that I needed to "catch up".

I got pregnant pretty quickly after and it subsided.

The anxiety is different for everyone. Are you TTC again?

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, just try to see that it will happen for you again.

FM if you need to.

I would see someone that specializes in infertility so at least they can understand what you are going through....also have you had your seratonin levels checked?

I am so sorry you are going through this and to answer your question honestly, no. I don't think you get 'over' it persay, but you eventually learn to deal with it and move on. It was a very hard time for me loosing my baby and having a D&C, but I've been beyond blessed with my daughter and another pregnancy currently. At the moment you don't think time will heal, but for me it did. It never goes away the loss, but now I have another angel looking over me and my children and one day I will meet my child. Take time to heal and the best advice I can give is to not shut the people out that are trying to be there for you, it only makes life harder and longer to heal.Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am so sorry for your loss and for the pain you are experiencing now. I don't think this is something that you should expect to "get over." I think you should allow yourself time to grieve. June really isn't that long ago. Give yourself more time and stop putting pressure on yourself to get over it. Just try to get through things one day at a time. Are you going to try to get pregnant again? Maybe a new pregnancy will help you feel better?

I'm sorry for your loss.

I had a D&C in February. It was so hard, I relate to your feelings. I've been doing accupuncture and that helps. They are so nice and in tune to me. I feel in control for once. I'm eating the foods they recommended to promote healthy blood flow to my uteris and doing yoga. This has made me feel in control, calm and much better! I would suggest trying it. The lack of control and not being pregnant was so hard for me to deal with.
