What do you do when
kids come to your house selling candy or other items (candles, magazines, etc)? I always feel so bad turning them away but alot of times I don't have cash in the house, or I really don't want what they are selling.
Do you always buy?

they come to my apt door, and i never answer. i don't like solicitation at home, no matter who or what it is. in the street, i am fair game and will buy candy sometimes.

Only if it's Girl Scout cookies do I buy, so if those kids aren't in uniforms, I don't even answer the door. Unless, it's kids that I know, then yes, I'll buy whatever they're selling.

If it's a kid from my neighborhood I'll definitely buy something.
But if it's someone I don't recognize or an adult selling something- I don't.

Me too. But...I HATE HATE HATE when kids are "fundraising" by standing at the exit door of the grocery store asking for change. I don't get it...they are basically pan-handling (sp?). The best is when there are parents there supervising. HELLOOOOO...if you want me to donate, do something....sell me a cookie, do a really crappy job washing my car, anything to show you are interested in raising money....not just begging for change at the grocery store.
OK...sorry....had to get that out

I usually tell them "no thank you" if its something i have to order.
If they are selling a candy bar - ill occasionally buy one or two - but usually they don't come around in my neighborhood - so its not something that happens often.

Depends on what they're selling. I always answer the door. If it's a couple of dollars for a candy bar, than yes I'll get it. Magazines, fundraising stuff I don't do.
My daycare has fundraising all of the time, but I'll only ask my family or ante up myself. If they really wanted to raise funds, they'd have listened to me when I had a company that was willing to donate 25 computers to them! Again, I digress..

Thank God you keep him in line!
I will buy if they have it with them usually but I don't order anything....I have 6 nieces and a nephew to hit me up for that!

Oh but to answer the original post.... i have SO MANY nieces and nephews, not to mention friends and co-workers with children selling there stuff.. that I in NO WAY buy from kids selling door to door.. I'd be broke off of cards, candy, calendars and wrapping paper if I bought from them all
