Re: There is wallpaper where?

yuck! when my mom moved into her co-op there was wallpaper on the walls & ceiling in the kitchen and bathroom only. All the other rooms were just painting. Chat Icon Sorry I can't help you with the taking it down part, but I'm sure if you look on HGTV.com or DIYnetwork.com, I'm sure there are good directions on there. GL!

Re: There is wallpaper where?

You need to get a scouring tool and the solution that loosens the wallpaper adhesive. You can get both at home depot.

Cheap esy way is put hot water and dish soap in a water bottle and skirt it on the walls, a friend of our does wallpaper and said this is the easiest way to do it. Let it sit for a few minutes and the hot water should "melt" the glue off the back.

Re: There is wallpaper where?

I've used a solution of vinegar and hot water. This worked well at removing the paper but not so much the glue.

DIF gel worked the best for us. The Tiger (scorer) didn't do much...nor did renting the steamer. We had plaster walls with 3 layers of paper.

If you're working with sheetrock, be careful to not soak the wall to much. It's basically paper and will start to crumble.

Hit up your local paint store...they were definitely a valuable resource for us.

I did it the same way I had wallpaper in the dining room, kitchen etc. Plus I used a plastic scraper that you used to plaster the walls that worked really well. Plus you will need a lot of patience! Chat Icon

Another Cheapy way is Fabric Softner mixed with Water. The fabric softner loosens the glue and makes it easier to scrape.

Re: There is wallpaper where?

Someone just told me about a primer that you just sand down the seams of wallpaper and use this primed it is sold at Lowes. Hope this helps. Alot easier then having to remove it. they did it in their kitchen and spare bath and it looks great. Then you canb paint right over it.
