dumb question about showering
I am finding it really hard to shower when I am alone with the baby, I would like to have her in the bathroom with me - in her bouncy chair - but is the steam and heat bad for her?
If not then I can just shower while she's napping!

Re: dumb question about showering
I used to leave jillian on the bouncey right in the doorway. I also think the steam is actually good for them. I usewd to shower right before i got her dressed so she would sit on the bouncey in just her diaper

Re: dumb question about showering
I don't see why the steam would be bad, plus the sound of the running water is soothing for babies, so she may even nod off while you're showering, which wouldn't be too bad.

Re: dumb question about showering
If you want to put her in the bathroom, leave the bathroom door cracked open so it doesn't get too hot in there.
Otherwise, take a shower when she's napping. That's what I do.

Re: dumb question about showering
We talked about this at my Lamaze class, and the instructor said to just put the baby in the bouncer and leave the door to the bathroom open so it doesn't get too hot, and you can just keep peeking out the curtain to see if the baby is okay.
I personally just make a mad dash for it while she's sleeping, and bring the monitor with me. We live with my FIL so I don't feel comfortable leaving the bathroom door open in case he walks by and sees me!!!

Re: dumb question about showering
I shower while she naps (I take the monitor into the bathroom)...I will try her in her bouncy seat while I am showering..she is congested so I am hoping the steam will help loosen it up.

Steam is fine for the baby - in fact it's what they do to combat croup in the winter time - steam & than cool air.
I used to shower with them in a bouncy seat. Later on I used to turn on Baby Mozart or Bach and they would stay mesmerized watching the different objects. It's like Baby Crack.

Re: dumb question about showering
SHowering with the baby in the room is fine. Like the others suggested though leave the door cracked so it's not to hot.

Re: dumb question about showering
I have been showering before DH goes to work in the morning. She won't stay in the bouncy seat long enough for me to shower and I never know if she'll actually stay asleep when she goes down for a nap. So frustrating.

I shower when she naps... I just take the monitor into the bathroom with me. She'd scream bloody hell if I put her in her bouncy seat in the shower... my little angel HATES the bouncy seat, the swing, etc... basically, everything but her mommy's arms

Mt son loves the sound of the shower. It really relaxes them.
