When is it a Jr?

My Dh's name is Thomas Jonathan...
If we have a boy he wants us to name him Thomas Damon (his name and his dad's name).
If the middle name is different then it isn't a Jr. right?

Also, anyone else getting heat from people about naming baby after Dh? Lots of people point out to me how annoying it can be having two people with the same name in the house.

Re: When is it a Jr?

the first and middle are the same in jr i believe, same with I, II, III

My sis's son and husband have the same first name. Whats the big deal, its your child and you can name him or her whatever you please.

Re: When is it a Jr?

The 1st & middle name would have to be the same to be a Jr. II, III & so on.

My DH is a jr. so he wants a III.

Re: When is it a Jr?

As long as the first and middle names are the same:

Senior=I (They are the same thing)
Junior=II (They are the same thing)
Then it goes III, IV and so on.

My DH is a II, he has the same first and middle names as his father. (His father does NOT have a 'I' after it. If we wanted to name our kid the same name, it would have a III after it.

The first, middle and last name has to be exactly the same for your son to be a Junior. Like a previous poster said who care what people say or think it is your child and you should do what you want. If I have a boy he will be named after my husband. My brother recently had a baby and gave him his name making him the IV.

We've gotten a lot of flack for DS being a III, people are really annoyingChat Icon

My FIL (who is deceased) was Christopher Michael Devine. My DH is Christopher Michael Devine, Jr. and my DS is Christopher Michael Devine, III.

We are having a hard time finding a nickname that we like for DS. DH is Chris, so the baby is usually Christopher. But my family is calling the baby "Chrissy"Chat Icon and DH's calls him "Little Chris"Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: When is it a Jr?

My Chat Icon will be a Jr. DH is Anthony Michael. Chat Icon will be Anthony Michael Jr. We will call the baby AJ for (Anthony Jr. ) AM (Anthony Michael) just doesnt sound right. We dont like Tony, we dont want to say Baby Anthony, so AJ it is. As far as everyone's comments, I dont care. It is our baby. Chat Icon
