when you make a mistake
When you make a mistake do you beat yourself up over it?
I never realized how much I do, until tonight. I did something very insensitive to my sister. It will all work out, and it completely fixable. But I did something without thinking of how it would effect her and I feel just awful. I realized it last night, and haven't slept more than an hour. I keep trying to go to sleep, but it just ends up haunting me, so I can't sleep.
So am I the only one who does this to herself?

Oh no, I can give plenty of good advice but at the end of the day, I do the exact same thing you're doing  
It's ok though, it just shows you're a good, compassionate, caring person. I'd rather spend a whole night tossing and turning, beating myself up over it, than be a selfish, egotistical maniac who wouldn't even think twice about what I'm doing

It depends on how serious the mistake is & if it can be remedied. If it can, I make the decision to fix it & then can move on.

Absolutely!! I obsess over it forever & drive myself crazy even if, like you, I know it will work out & cause no real harm in the end.
Just talk to her as soon as you can & hopefully you can right it ASAP!

I am very hard on myself when I make a mistake. Really hard. I am my own worst enemy. And I can never let it go. It's very bad. I have lost lots of sleep over my many mistakes.

Yes, I am the same way. I obsess and obsess over things I've done wrong too. We all make mistakes and the fact that you care so much to toss and turn all night just shows what a good person you really are. I know a lot of people who have no conscience and don't think twice when they hurt someone. I'm sure it'll all turn out alright for you.

yes usually! i think that i'm very sensitive to other people's needs/feelings... so when i mess up and hurt someone, i am plagued by guilt!

I'm like you, too - when I think I've hurt or upset someone, it's really hard for me to let it go and move on, even if I've apologized and tried to make it right. I tell myself that it's because I'm compassionate and sensitive to other people's feelings, but it may well be that I'm just neurotic!  I wish I could help and give you good advice on how to deal with it, but I'm still trying to figure that out myself
