Did anyone hear of this..?-UPDATE!

I paid my credit card last month at the bank and paid it on the day it was due which was a sat..I look at my statment for this month and see that they charged me a late fee of $39.00. I call up and the lady on the phone tells me they can't remove the fee. She said that Saturday is not a business day so it was late. She was soo nasty to me and told me that if I calll back and speak to someone else they are not going to remove it either cause she is making a note on my account! She just got me soo worked up talking to me like that!!!!!

So I just called for the 3rd time and finally I got somewhere! I told them that I was going to cancel my card that I don't understand how they can charge me a late fee when my payment was not late... I also said that I was treated so poorly by the lady who I spoke to yesterday when I am a good customer and always pay my bill on time and have had this credit card since 2000. She put me on hold and came back and apologized and said that she will credit the late fee. She than said "is there a Kohls near you" I said "yes"..she said ok I am sending you a 50.00 giftcard to you as well!!! What a big difference from the lady yesterday. I am soo happy that I called back today

Oh my gosh same thing happened to us last month with a MC! DH called and flipped out, they said they couldn't remove the late fee.

So he said, no problem I will be mailing my final payment this month and then I will call to cancel.

The rep said "Oh, Mr. so and so we don't want to lose your valued business, we will reverse the charge and you may expect to see it credited on your next bill."

I would call back and ask to speak to a manager.

If they processed your payment on a Saturday then it should be considered a work day!

That's ridiculous!!!

I never heard of a Sat not counting. They should have removed it if you have never done this before.

That happened with one of my accounts - I was even paying a chase credit account from a chase checking account and couldn't make a same day payment for Saturday.

I got the same spiel and they finally relented when I asked how the late charge appeared on my account before the end of the weekend but not my payment.

that' a scare tactic. Call back. Obviously they do business on Saturdays. Tell her you want to see a copy of the agreement you signed saying that Saturday is not a business day.

Call back, ask to speak with a supervisor. If you have not been late before, they will usually remove it. The regular customer service reps rarely work with you.

Technically it was late, as a previous poster said. You should always give a payment at least 48 hours to post, even if it is on a business day. Some companies post faster than others.

Ohhhhh, don't even get me started on this...I had a due date of the 25th. It was a Friday. So I go to pay it on the 24th, a Thurday at 8PM. Well, it was blocking all the days until the following Monday and then it was going to be late. So I call up. He tells me that it's going to be late. I said oh no it isn't. The due date is TOMORROW. He said, well, you are posting after 5. If I paid by 5, it wouldn't be late. Ohhhhh, that really pisssed me off. I had just come home from work, so what was I to do? After A LOT of complaining, and the guy wanting to charge me to do a phone payment, it was taken care of. But I was fuming.

Call back. Explain to the person that yes you called, but there was a problem with the other person and you wanted to apologize and try again. Even if you aren't sorry, most phone reps don't know each other and you may get a nicer person this time.

Call them back, speak to manager. Tell he/she that you have been a good customer with a great payment history. Due to the service you received, you will look into another credit card and will transfer your balance over and will then close the account. Hopefully they will reconsider the decision and remove the late charge.

Saturdays in the bank are technically not business days if you notice most of the banks change the dates in the lobby after 3 pm ish on friday's and it usually is Mondays date. Nothing is posted to accounts till monday.. You can try to fight it but that is what they will probably tell you. Sorry

that is crazy, I pay my bills all hours of nthe day and night. And for the woman to tell you that she is making a note so dont bother calling back. OMG, that is the worst customer service and I would definately cancel that card.
