updated ***just had my sonogram and i got my instructions
and the woman told me i have a really nice follicle on my right ovary. i have to wait for the dr to review the results to see when i will go back and they said most likely it will be monday to keep monitoring me. at least i have this question answered, i dont have to worry about relying on the OPK.
but what i am confused about is this. i just got a phone call from a pharmacy in brooklyn where i dont even live telling me they got a call for a prescription for the hcg shot. i was told by dr brenner that they would use no drugs for me because of my blood clotting issues. so i wonder if he changed his mind?? he wasnt in and i wasnt told anything about this in the office when i was there. so i called the office and i am waiting for them to call me back.
what do you do with this shot??? do i have to give it to myself?? im nervous!!!!
UPDATE****
so i had a message waiting for me when i got home this afternoon. i go back in on monday for blood and sono again. they mentioned nothing about the hcg so i will ask them on monday. they said if i got a surge tommorrow which is not likely i should call and they will set up an IUI for monday. but thats another question i have to ask too; if my dh needs to abstain for a few days. i was so nervous i forgot all my questions. i better start writing them down.

hello! glad to hear you are getting close and the follicle looks good. I wonder if the call from the pharmacy was a mistake...you would have needed to give the office your pharmacy's phone number for them to call it in for you. I'm sure you will hear back soon and have your questions answered. If you are to get the HCG shot, you will pick it up from the pharmacy and carry it around with you. Then, when they call you in for the trigger they will give it to you. Maybe I'll see you in the office on Monday AM!

the pharmacy in brooklyn will most likely be delivering the shot to you, at least that's what they did for me. I didn't use it the first month, they might just want you to have it just in case. I ended up using it the 2nd cycle. it's a trigger to make you ovulate. they don't want your follicle to get too big, so they get the trigger just in case they have to make you ovulate earlier than you would on your own. you can get the shot in your stomach or behind. i got it in the behind, it didn't hurt, but the muscle was a little sore for a day or two.

yes a pharmacy in brooklyn! but i still have to figure out why they are prescribing it when dr brenner said no to any drugs for me. maybe its safe to have afterall?

Most of the RE's use Kraupner pharmacy in Brooklyn which delivers- they specialize in fertility drugs. The Hcg is the trigger shot which will make your body release the follicle at just the right moment. Its not a medication that stimulates your ovaries.
BUt my other question is why didnt the MD do your sono. My RE now does every sono, the clinic I went to before had it done by sono techs, and I found that the measurements were less reliable that way since everyone measures differently. Plus I like to know the MD is looking for themselves. Just a thought to consider.

I have had the same experience. the PA's are very nice and actually do everything. Dr. Brenner reviews your results, but the PA is the one who does the sonos and insemminations. Again they are trainned for that, I felt very confident that I was in good hands.

 they do the insemminations too I'm sorry but if you are paying for the expertise of an RE you should have an RE. Thats absurd. Again, I am sorry to insult anyones practice, but for me that would be unacceptable.

I hadn't really thought about it. This was my first experience with and RE and I've only been going since June. I had no reason that this was abnormal. Now I guess I should look into this. I guess it is not like this in your clinic. can I ask who your RE is.
but on the other hand what would really be the difference whether the RE does it or the PA. they are inserting the cathedar through the cervix and into the uterus, the whole procedure seems fairly simple if you are trained.

I don't think it made a difference. I had 5 inseminations, 2 with the RE's and 3 with the PA's and it was the last one done by a PA that got me pg.
