this is the same company that Paris was up in arms with b/c they had one about her.
They are using their ads as some kind of political commentary. it's almost like dry humor...and I just don't see how this will help the "cause" any.
it'll make people debate about whether or not the ad is in poor taste, but I don't think it'll help the abortion rights issue either way.

Yes but it what it will do is get their ads talked about & possibly have their company name discussed enough that someone would remember them if they need storage.

Still, I am all for it. Freedom of speech - gotta love it. I may not love this ad but go ahead and shock me, offend me - just don't stifle me. Sure, this wouldn't fly in some other states, but this is NY, we can take it.
I agree..kudos to them for stating what they believe even though it may get in the way of the almighty dollar.
The hanger, yes, might be graphic but what will happen if abortion is made illegal?

Exactly! So I would say it is very smart advertising. They were in the paper when Paris Hilton sued them for one of their ads. So they are getting even more mileage out of these ads.

ITA. I think it is simple and to the point and actually, quite clever. I don't see anything shocking about it - it's a hangar in an ad for a storage company. Brilliant.
Honestly, tough noogies, that it's "shocking"...maybe it will remind some people exactly what it was like BEFORE abortion was a legal choice and how important it is to keep it that way.

Not only did it get the adverstising on the billboard but the newspapers are picking up the story as well.
The hanger, while a disturbing image, is a very real image of what will happen as our rights erode.
While I don't mind the shock value and am not offended by it, I just wonder why this storage company feels it necessary to make statements regarding a woman's right to choose.  Stick with your business, that is storage, which doesn't make me think of hangers.
Well they wouldnt have an article, news reporters and this thread talking about them if the just advertised for storage no wwould they

Well, democrats outnumber republicans 5 to 1 in manhattan, and Kerry carried close to 90 percent of the city, so they can get away with the political commentary because the vast majority of manhattanites agree with them.
I think it's a bit shocking, but I think we need to wake up more about abortion rights - as much as I dont want to believe it, they could be taken away easily with the current pres. and supreme court.

I definitely see it as very smart advertising. I never even heard of the company before and now I will recongnize it whenever I hear of it in the future.
As far as the ad itself, I do think it is a little extreme, but it was also the reality of only a couple of decades ago. And who knows what the future holds.
