Re: IUD???
I was thinking about getting one but then I got scared...maybe after my next (and probably last baby) I will get it but I am too nervous that it will mess with my future fertility

I wanted to get one too and at my PP visit my dr said he doesn't do them. Isn't that weird?

Re: IUD???
I got one and got an infection about a week later and had to have it removed. I blame my doc more than anything though. There are lots of positives to it, especially not getting AF any more.

But no ovulation while you are not trying to get pregnant is what you want, no?
You don't want to get pregnant with the IUD in, so when it comes out, that is when you would start ovulating again.

I think the whole not getting your period thing is what deters me.....I like knowing that everything is working as intended
I see what you are saying though....I guess an IUD is just not for me until I am done having kids

Re: IUD???
i had one a while ago.
i know that they keep changing. so i can only speak about what i experienced.
positives: not getting pg
negatives: increased risk of vaginal infections (my dr said that hasn't been proven... but i had NEVER had one before i got it. during the 2 years i had it, i got about four infections) it hurts. when it's first put in, your body recognizes that there is a foreign object in there and it will try to get it out. lots of cramping. lots of vaginal secretion. same reason as above.
there are also the faith/religious reasons why people don't get them.
they don't prevent sperm meeting egg. they just make the uterus "un-welcoming" for the zygote. which means it will leave the body in the form of a heavier period.
again, this was my experience about 7 years ago.
i would not do it again.
