Problems with Ants in the kitchen
Is anyone else having this problem? I've been in my house for a few years now and now I'm having an ant problem. It's only in the kitchen area near my window that's above my sink.
About an hour ago I went to opwn my snack cabinet and I found so many I wanted to puke. I threw everything out including the stuff in the adjacent cabinet. I 409'd the hell out of the cabinets and counters and went out and bought those ant bait traps.
Every now and then I see one crawling. I'm getting so damn fustrated. I wondering if anyone is having this battle. My DH says it's the summertime and it happens. Do you think I should call an exterminator? I'm in my 7month of pg and I don't know what I should do.

Re: Problems with Ants in the kitchen
we get them in our kitchen too....but only in the summertime and especially after a heavy rain.. Fortunately they are not on the countertops, just the floor, but they are such a pain. I spray raid to kill them if there is a lot-like on a piece of food that might've fallen and then i'll wipe it up and spray vinegar/water combo and clean the area.

ugh, I hate ants! I seriously have THE nastiest ant story... I'll hold off until after I've eaten dinner... makes me want to puke just thinking about it again.
I can relate to ant problems, for SURE!

Re: Problems with Ants in the kitchen
Buy Terro Traps. I swear by them. I first used it when Joseph was 17 months & I was pregnant with Maddie. I was paranoid about chemicals so I emailed the company & received an email back from the president of the company assuring me it was safe.
You can get them in Home Depot or online. I just got a shipment last week since we had a major ant problem & I used all of my traps.
The ants will swarm for 3-4 days. It will be disgusting but they'll bring the poison & kill the nest.

I just get those discs that they sell in the grocery store. I throw a few around the affected spot and don't get anymore ants.

I've been having them too!!! i bought the traps and put them in the areas where I've seen them the most. Now I've seen them around the stove and counter areas. I just bought some spray and that seems to work for a few days, until I have to spray the little buggers again!!
I hope it's only a summer thing.

Re: Problems with Ants in the kitchen
The problem with the traps that kill the ant is the queen is still alive & producing more ants. If you don't kill the queen, it will be an ongoing problem until she's dead.

Re: Problems with Ants in the kitchen
If you are afraid of the chemicals I was told that coffee grinds worked. I never tried this but I was told that the ants will not cross the coffee grinds. I know it sounds weird...
In one of our old apartments we had sooooo many ants we had to move. It was disgusting and crazy. The exterminators could not even kill them and the landlord was nuts!
