According to my Dr., you can eat it as long as it is cooked...

Unpastuerized cheese is what you have to worry about. If the cheese is domestic...whether it be fresh, soft, hard etc..it is made with pastuerized milk...as per FDA guidelines...if a restaurant in serving it it must follow board of health & FDA guidelines. SOOOOO yes you can eat mozzarella cheese, and blue, and feta, etc....as long as its domestic..

Re: mozz. cheese
OH, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I mean, I kind of told myself to not worry - what's done is done. But it helps to hear that it was ok. Thanks, ladies.

I have been saying it forever, mozzarella is made from pasteurized cheese AND it's cooked. It's perfectly safe, and I eat it a lot!!!!!!

Isn't it true that all cheese served in the US have to be pasteurized?

Yes and no. Cheese made in the US is generally made from pasturized milk - which is what PG women are supposed to look for when eating cheese. Some cheese is not made with pasturized milk, but is pasturized after it is made - which for a PG woman is supposed to be a no-no. Imported cheeses are not necessarily either pasturized or made with pasturized milk.
