Cramps - would you call the dr.?

I had my monthly appt on Tues (I'm 15 weeks) and everything was good - baby's h/b was perfect.

Starting Tuesday night, I started getting bad cramps consistenly for about 12 hours...was up the entire night on Tuesday and stayed home Wednesday. I *think* it was gasChat Icon , (although I have NEVER had gas pain that severe) and I have since gone to the bathroom - TMI. The cramping is mostly gone, but I'll still get some passing pain.

I'm concerned b/c my next monthly appt is not for 4 weeks, and although I really think it was gas, there is a part of me that is a little concerned about the baby.

Do you think the dr. would let me come in just to hear the h/b to reassure me or am I just being a worrywart?

ETA: I called the office and I am going to go in this morning to see the nurse practioner. Hopefully, I'll hear the heartbeat and that will be reassuring. I don't want to worry for the next 4 weeks!

If you are worried about it, call the doctor so they can set your mind at ease. Chat Icon

I have this on and off for the last few weeks. If it was bad enough to stay home I would use that as your motivation to call the doctor. Just let them know your concerns and that you were very uncomfortable. If they dont ask you to come in to hear the heartbeat at least they can reassure you that it was probably gas, and that its very normal at this stage.

Sometimes you just need to hear it from them.

I would call just to be safe and to ease your own fears. I was having cramping that I thought was nothing but my doctor felt otherwise and put me on medication to relax my uterus.

(FYI... I am high risk and see my dr. every week so my situation is different... and I was also around 24 weeks when it started...but it is always better call!)

i experienced cramping during second tri every time i had a growth spurt, so it could be that. of course, it could definitely be gas as well... wouldn't be unheard of Chat Icon

either way, glad you are getting checked out. keep us posted.

Ok, I went to the dr. and everything is FINE!!Chat Icon She checked my cervix (it's closed and perfectly fine) and babies heartbeat sounds great. She really thinks it's a GI thing, and has switched my prenatals to ones with stool softener in it...hopefully this will help my discomfort!Chat Icon
