Re: 1st Trimester and Heartburn
I did not but my best friend did. Unfortunately she's still got it at 38 weeks but everyone's different - maybe yours will get better!
For her, by the way, the old wive's tale re: heartburn and baby hair held true. They could actually see the hair on one of the late sonograms

Re: 1st Trimester and Heartburn
I had pretty bad heartburn during the first trimester...it does get better! My 2nd trimester was great....I wish I could say the same for the 3rd trimester, but I've had to graduate to Zantac (on Dr.'s reccomendation) since the Tums don't cut it anymore!

Re: 1st Trimester and Heartburn
i never had heartburn before getting pregnant. first tri it was horrendous, and i needed zantac (which worked wonders, by the way, strongly recommend!). then it disappeared for the second tri, and now it is reappearing in the third tri as the baby pushes up.
some people have heartburn the whole time, depending on how they're carrying. my MIL says that she "felt the baby in her throat" for each of her pregnancies because she carried very high. so there IS a chance that you will have heartburn throughout... but more likely it will go away at least for a little while.

Re: 1st Trimester and Heartburn
I had heartburn the whole pregnancy. I drank a ton of milk and got the chewable tums.

Re: 1st Trimester and Heartburn
No, but I have heard of people getting it. I only started gettng it in the 2nd trimester, but its pretty sporadic for me, not too bad at all.
Ask your doctor if you can take tums, or something like that, it's supposed to help.

Re: 1st Trimester and Heartburn
I've had it since the beginning, and it actually got worse in the 2nd trimester. I have Tums everywhere - home, work, purse.

Re: 1st Trimester and Heartburn
I got heartburn around week 5 and it lasted until I delivered - I'm sorry to say - I lived on Tums - the good news was it completely disappeared the moment I gave birth

Re: 1st Trimester and Heartburn
I didn't have any in the beginning....then at about 10 weeks it started getting pretty bad - now it's awful. I have found that drinking milk helps me more than Tums lately.

Re: 1st Trimester and Heartburn
Yes me! I have been drinking milk and am avoiding the foods that seem to make it worse, I have taken a couple of tums but I find the milk helps. I also feel like whatever I eat it just seems to sit in my stomach for ages!

All I can say is TUMS ARE A LIFESAVER!!!
It gets better in the 2nd trimester (although I never go anywhere without the Tums).

Mine started about that time too. At 20 weeks now mine has gotten worse!
I am trying the milk lately and so far so good! I have a glass of milk with almost every meal (or just after) and so far I have only had very mild HB/Acid Reflux.
Good Luck!

I am 9w2d and so far heartburn is my only pregnancy complaint. Sometimes it is so horrible I want to cry. I use Tums and they seem to help

Re: 1st Trimester and Heartburn
I had it bad in the first tri and now again in the third tri. Doctor told me to take pepcid since tums didnt do it for me. Also said to put something under the mattress or get an incline pillow so that you're not lying flat at night.
