Where can I rent a vacuum?
I'm about to close on a house that now has cats in it. I'm deathly allergic to cats, so I don't want to use my own vacuum to do the first cleaning. Where can I look into renting a vacuum for a day? Has anybody ever done this? I'm in Suffolk county. TIA!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Where can I rent a vacuum?
I would hire a professional to come in and really clean the carpets good.
ETA: I've never heard of renting a regular vacuum, just one of those steam machines.

I would also have it steam cleaned professionally.
I know supermarkets rent steam cleaners - maybe they rent vaccums too?

Kelly don't bother with a regular vacuum. Get the carpets professionally cleaned. Pennysaver had coupons last week for Sears carpet cleaning - 5 rooms + 10 stairs only $199.

Re: Where can I rent a vacuum?
I appreciate the advice ladies, but only one room has carpet. I just want to do a quick job on that room because we are actually replacing the carpet in there as soon as DH paints. That's why I'm looking for a cheap one to rent.

Re: Where can I rent a vacuum?
Instead of renting, is there someone you could just borrow a vacuum from? I am sure a friend or family member (esp one with a pet) wouldn't mind lending you their vacuum.

That's probaby the best idea...or rent a cleaner from the supermarket, Home Depot or Lowes and just use that.

Re: Where can I rent a vacuum?
In California we had our carpets cleaned with the RX-20 professional carpet cleaning machine. Not sure if anyone out here uses it but it's one of the best cleaning machines.
