Spinoff to "Would you go?"
Do you normally question peoples excuses for not attending an event like a wedding.
I only ask this cuz the OP on the Would you go thread made it seem sarcastic that the cousin couldn't get out of work and I know many, many times DH couldn't get off work for an event (his old job really sukked) and either I'd go alone or neither would attend.
I now wonder how many people might have thought we were lying...

Re: Spinoff to "Would you go?"
Depends. If the person unable to attend is always coming up with excuses not to do things, then yes, I would question. We had a couple of relatives on DH's side, and former co-workers on my side that we did not expect to come to our wedding. They more than fulfilled our expectations by not only not coming, but not replying on time, either so we had to hunt them down.
But we also had a couple of people who at the very last minute could not come, and I didn't question any of their reasons.

Re: Spinoff to "Would you go?"
I don't normally question it simply because I am a person who can not easily get off of work for every little thing that comes up..........
I do question why certain people would RSVP yes to a wedding & then NOT show up & offer no apology, no excuse or never contact me again ..........BUT I digress from your question

I think work is a legitimate excuse.
I don't question people's reasons for not showing up to things. Everyone has their own lives with plenty of things going on.
I suppose if it became a regular thing with lame excuses, then I would stop inviting them. I wouldn't waste my time continuing a friendship that was one way.

This is pretty much what I was going to say.

No if they can't go they can't. If they don't want to I don't need to know that.
