NST = Non stress test. They will put a band arround your belly to measure the baby's heart beat. In my experience it is usually about an hour.
They can also put a band arround you to measure if you are having contractions. You are to push a button every time you feel the baby kick.
BPP = Biophysical Profile. Here they have an ultrasound or sonogram machine and measure your amniotic fluid, tone/flexion, baby movements, and baby breathing

It just like it was described above! It's sinmple. You get to hear the baby's heartbeat the shole time. One of my last ones I heard him hiccuping the whole time. Good luck!!!

i guess that's what my doctor did last night but it wasn't for a whole hour - more like 20 mins just to check activity

The doppler is what my obgyn uses every visit to check the fetal heart rate. This is more like a paddle that is stronger and registers the heartbeat on a tape or machine so you can see the actual hear beat rythm.

Good luck! It's not too bad. My lazy DD was asleep through all of them. I had to drink juice before so she'd move. I suggest that, but with the GD you probably can't.
