Re: Stairs help

You need to hire a carpenter who specializes in stair repair and replacement. Get ready for a hefty bill. I got estimates in the thousands for wood railing alone.

We used Golden Oak on sunrise in bellmore and we were very happy. They cost $$$$$$$ so be ready. You can stain them on your own though to save some cash. They charge an arm and leg to stain them and its easy enough to do on your own.

Re: Stairs help

We used Deer Park Stairs (they are in Blue Point, I think). Again, it was pretty expensive, but necessary and worth it!

Re: Stairs help

We had our stairs refinished back in February when we were doing massive renovations and they are in terrible shape (not sagging though).

We have been looking into getting a nice carpet runner to cover up the stairs - maybe that would work for you.

Redoing the stairs (risers and treads) is big $$$$$
