Has anyone been put on bed rest..
and if so how did that work with your job? Was it immediate or did you have to wait for approval?

well every job is different. It depends on your jobs policy.
My jobs policy was NYS disability, which I recv'd after approval from my HR dept...it took about 4-5 weeks to get the approval and I had to get it updated and reapproved monthly( I was out from the end of Jan till now)

I went out on bed rest 1 month before I planned on taking my maternity. It was immediate in that when I was at the hospital at 32 1/2 weeks Dr. Dolisi told me that I could not return to work for the duration of my PG (& yelled at me a little for not going out sooner as Dr H had suggested). The first 5 days I had to take as sick days, but the subsequent days were NYS disability plus my job pays a percentage to make up for the difference in pay. It did however, cause me to lose some of my job protection time at the end of my maternity.

I'm just really curious because I have my MD appointment tomorrow and I'm going to tell him to put me on leave. (We already discussed this) and I don't have 4-5 weeks to wait for approval. I'm due in 6.

if you "wait for approval" how can it be a legitimate bedrest?? i thought bedrest should be for someone who needs to be in bed, now!!

I was put on part time bedrest with DD for 14 weeks beginning at 26 weeks.
For my company it was immediate, all I had to do was fax the dr's note to my HR dept. I went out on bedrest the very next day.

Immediate. And then I filled out the paperwork for disability and I got a check later on for the day I went out.

For me it was immediate. I have been out since February. My boss even started the paperwork for me.

well I went on leave immediately..I just wasnt "offically approved and paid" for at least a month. But nothing stopped me from going on leave.
My dr had to fax paperwork to my office and they had to review and approve it. But I also have THOUSANDS of employees all over the country in my company which could be why it took a while .

I'm bringing the paperwork to my visit tomorrow with hopes that he can fill it out and I'll fax it right to the dept in my company. We have thousands as well, but we have an assigned consultant..so HOPEFULLY that will make the process faster. I'm not really worried about getting paid right away...thank god!

He said he would do it and he would give a good reason.
